Das Rollenspiel ermöglicht „Anderssein“ und die Ablenkung und Ausblendung des Alltags. Ist es doch eine Medium, welches dem Akteur durch das Zulegen einer Charakterrolle die Möglichkeit gibt, einen virtuellen Raum zu betreten. Der Wunsch des Übertritts in eine phantastische Welt und das Wahrnehmen der Möglichkeit der Überschreitung in eine virtuelle, dem Alltag entzogene Zone. Diesem Wunsch der Überschreitung nachzugehen, ist eines der Ziele der Fotoarbeit „Spontanzauber“. Die Arbeit zeigt Momentaufnahmen der Porträtierten aus zum Teil unterschiedlichen Rollenspielgattungen und gewährt einen exemplarischen Blick auf deren Motive.
The work ›Spontanzauber‹ (›Instant‹) is a look at the fantastic and unique world of Role Game Players. Role Game Players refer to the changing of their behaviours to assume a role or consciously to act out an adopted role. Role Playing Games give the chance to leave and break out of the normal social structures.
Huizinga said about Play:»The exceptional and special position of play is most tellingly illustrated by the fact that it loves to surround itself with an air of secrecy. Even in early childhood the charm of play is enhanced by making a ›secret‹ out of it. This is for us, not for the ›others‹ .What the ›others‹ do ›outside‹ is no concern of ours at the moment. Inside the circle of the game the laws and customs of ordinary life no longer count. We are different and do things differently.«
The photography work ›Spontanzauber‹ explore the virtual and real world of Role Game Players, photographing those who cross boundaries. But is Role Game Playing really an escape from the real world?
